『光影の記憶』は、岩崎量示がタウシュベツ川橋梁を長年記録してきた写真のなかから、あらためて作品を選び直し、モノクロームで再構成した写真集です。 自費・商業出版を合わせると1,000点をゆうに超える既発表作品の数々から、北海道帯広市の写真工房代表・岡田良博氏に写真セレクトとレタッチを委ねました。 もともとカラーで発表していた作品を、本作のためにあらためてモノクロ写真としてレタッチを行っています。単に色を抜いたのではなく、モノクロ作品として成立するように再調整後、一冊の本に再構成しています。 この再編集によって、タウシュベツ川橋梁の表情は、色彩の印象から離れ、光、影、質感、輪郭、時間の痕跡へと意識を集中させるものになりました。 『光影の記憶』は、過去作品の単なる再録ではありません。 長年の記録を、新たな視点からの選択とレタッチによってもう一度見つめ直し、別の作品として立ち上げた写真集です。 本作は、映像作品『千年の残響』、カラー写真集『絶景タウシュベツ川橋梁』と並ぶ、20周年を機に制作した三部作の一冊でもあります。 カラー、モノクロ、映像という異なる方法によって、同じ対象をそれぞれ別の角度から見つめるなかで、『光影の記憶』はもっとも静かに、内側へ向かう一冊となりました。 あらたな視点と再解釈によって生まれた、もうひとつのタウシュベツ川橋梁の記録です。 〈仕様〉 モノクロ写真集／全120ページ 監修：岡田良博（写真セレクト／モノクロ現像処理） 写真：岩崎量示 Memories in Light and Shadow Memories in Light and Shadow is a monochrome photobook created by reselecting and reinterpreting Ryoji Iwasaki’s long-term photographic record of the Taushubetsu Bridge. From well over 1,000 previously published works—across both self-published and commercial books—the selection and retouching for this volume were entrusted to Yoshihiro Okada, director of a photo studio in Obihiro, Hokkaido. Many of the photographs were originally presented in color, but for this book, they were newly reworked as monochrome images. This is not a simple removal of color. Each photograph was carefully adjusted so that it would stand as a finished black-and-white work, and then newly assembled into a single volume. Through this re-editing process, the bridge is seen less through the impression of color and more through light, shadow, texture, contour, and traces of time. Memories in Light and Shadow is not merely a reprint of earlier work. It is a new photobook, one that revisits years of documentation through fresh selection and monochrome reinterpretation, allowing the archive to emerge again in another form. This volume is also one part of the trilogy created to mark the 20th anniversary of Ryoji’s documentation of the Taushubetsu Bridge, alongside the video work Resonance of Time and the color photobook Landscape of Taushubetsu Bridge. Among these three approaches. Color, monochrome, and moving image, Memories in Light and Shadow is the most inward and meditative.
