北海道上士幌町で木彫り熊を作り続けた作家・伊藤幹男さんの作品・写真集です。
伊藤さんは、愛嬌のある表情とユニークな造形で腹筋するクマを表現した「腹筋クマ」に代表されるオリジナル木彫り熊を創作。2021年に帯広市内のギャラリーで開催した初個展では会場記録となる入場者を集めました。

「みきおさんのクマ」として知られるようになった木彫りクマ作品はすでに売り切れとなっており、現物を手に入れることは困難です。

本写真集には、伊藤さんが制作した多様な木彫り熊を収録しました。また、実際に作品が生み出される作業風景を収めた貴重な写真や、アトリエ全体の様子を紹介するイラストも収めました。

This is a photo book of works by the craftsman Mikio Itoh, who has dedicated himself to carving wooden bears in Kamishihoro Town, Hokkaido. Mr. Itoh is renowned for his original carved bears, especially the "Sit-up Bear", characterized by its charming expression and unique design. His debut solo exhibition held in Obihiro City in 2021 attracted a record number of visitors for the venue.

The carved bear creations, now widely recognized as "Mikio's Bears", have already sold out, making it a challenge to obtain an original piece.

This photo book captures a range of the diverse wooden bears meticulously crafted by Mr. Itoh. Additionally, it includes rare photographs showcasing the very moments of the creation process and illustrations that depict the overall ambiance of his workshop.
