著者の岩崎量示は埼玉県出身。2005年に北海道・糠平（現在のぬかびら源泉郷）に移り住み、以来、タウシュベツ川橋梁の記録を続けてきました。撮り始めてから15年となる2020年。節目の年に合わせて刊行を開始したのが『タウシュベツ日誌』シリーズです。写真展や写真集で発表を続けてきた岩崎が、膨大な数に上る写真ストックのさらなる発表の場を求めて創刊したものです。

タウシュベツ川橋梁は、北海道の大雪山国立公園に残るコンクリートアーチ橋です。この橋は、1937年に鉄道橋として建設されました。現在は1年のうちに水没と出現とを繰り返しながら崩落へと向かっています。時期によっては水面下に沈んで見えないことから、また、近い将来の崩落で失われることが予想されることから、「幻の橋」の別名を持ちます。

半年に一度、そのタウシュベツ川橋梁の直近半年間の姿をまとめることが本シリーズの目的です。第一作目となる本作には、2019年9月から2020年2月までのタウシュベツ川橋梁の写真を収めました。水鏡に映り込むめがね橋、結氷した氷を下から突き破るように姿を現すタウシュベツなどに加え、過去のストックからの写真も含めおよそ40点の写真で構成しています。

現在もつづく『タウシュベツ日誌』シリーズの試作本が、この『第0号』です。

Author Ryōji Iwasaki hails from Saitama Prefecture. In 2005, he relocated to Nukabira in Hokkaido (now known as Nukabira Gensenkyo) and has since been continuously documenting the Taushubetsu Bridge. 2020 marks the 15th year since he began capturing the bridge's essence. To commemorate this milestone, he initiated the "Taushubetsu Journal" series. Iwasaki, who has consistently presented his work in photo exhibitions and books, launched this series as a platform to showcase his extensive collection of photographs.

The Taushubetsu Bridge is a concrete arch bridge located in Daisetsuzan National Park, Hokkaido. Constructed in 1937 as a railway bridge, it now faces a recurring cycle of submersion and emergence throughout the year, gradually progressing towards its eventual collapse. Owing to periods when it is submerged and invisible beneath the water, and the anticipation of its imminent demise, it has earned the moniker, "The Phantom Bridge."

The main purpose of this series is to compile the most recent six months of the Taushubetsu Bridge's state, twice a year. This first volume captures the bridge from September 2019 to February 2020. In addition to images of the bridge's reflection on the water's surface and its striking emergence from beneath the ice, approximately 40 photographs, including some from past archives, have been compiled.
