"The Phantom Bridge" series captures the essence of the Taushubetsu Bridge through the lens of Hokkaido-based photographer Ryoji Iwasaki. These images, curated for an international audience, have undergone the meticulous curation process of the renowned site, 1x, and have been marked as "Published."

The Taushubetsu Bridge is a historic concrete arch bridge, a relic of the railways in Hokkaido, Japan. Due to the fluctuations in water levels of the dam lake, the bridge has experienced multiple submersions and re-emergences. Its impending collapse in the not-so-distant future, as a result of the concrete's age-related degradation, has earned it another name: "The Phantom Bridge."

The bridge's majestic appearance, set against the harsh winters of Hokkaido and slowly deteriorating due to time and ice, seems to transcend its mere existence. It evokes feelings of the past, present, and future in all who gaze upon it.

Since 2005, Ryoji Iwasaki has been documenting this bridge, amassing hundreds of thousands of shots. From this vast collection, a select few images were subjected to the rigorous evaluation of 1x, and only those that passed are available for purchase as "The Phantom Bridge" limited edition prints.

1x, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is a distinguished photo curation site. Only photos that have cleared its two-tiered, stringent curation process make the cut to be showcased. While one can buy prints from the site post-publication, they do not encompass the photographer's specific vision in terms of print and framing.

Each print is A3(11.69inch✕16.54inch) size and is priced at 132,000 yen (inclusive of tax but excluding shipping). If you are interested in purchasing multiple pieces, we offer discounts. Please reach out to us through the contact page before placing your order.

These photos are printed at a trusted print shop following Ryoji's instructions, signed by him, and then framed to gallery specifications at a specialized framing store in Hokkaido.

「The Phantom Bridge」シリーズは、北海道在住のフォトグラファー岩崎量示が長年撮り続けてきたタウシュベツ川橋梁の写真を海外向けに発信している写真群であり、キュレーションサイト1xでcuration processを経て公開されたものです。

タウシュベツ川橋梁は、日本の北海道にある鉄道遺構のコンクリートアーチ橋です。ダム湖の水位変動によって水没と出現を繰り返すことから、また、経年劣化によるコンクリートの劣化のために遠くない将来の崩落が予想されていることから、別名「幻の橋」とも呼ばれます。

厳寒の北海道で歳月と氷雪によって滅びゆく荘厳さ、見るものに過去・現在・未来という時間の存在を感じさせずにはおかない佇まいは、ひとつの「橋」という存在を超越したものであるように感じられます。

岩崎は2005年からこの橋を撮り続けてきました。その枚数は数十万枚にいたります。そこから抜粋した写真をさらにキュレーションサイトである1xで審査にかけ、通過した写真だけを「The Phantom Bridge」としてプリントし限定販売いたします。

1Xはスウェーデンのストックホルムに本部がある写真キュレーションサイト。2段階の厳格なcuration processを経た写真だけがそのサイトで掲載にいたるものです。掲載後には当該サイトでプリントを購入することもできますが、プリントと額装に撮影者の意図は加わりません。

当サイトでは、撮影者本人の指示によるプリントそして額装を施した写真の限定販売を行います。ご希望の写真の番号にてご注文ください。あらためてこちらから確認のご連絡を差し上げます。
